Kwara State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Afees Abolore Alabi, has identified agriculture as a key driver of the state’s economic future, citing its arable land, favorable climate, and strategic location between northern and southern Nigeria.
Speaking at a town hall meeting under the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms SABER initiative, held in partnership with the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council, PEBEC, Dr. Abolore described agriculture as the most viable sector outside the civil service. while crediting Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration for investing in rural infrastructure, farm inputs, and farmer empowerment programmes.
He noted that the ongoing reforms under SABER aim to streamline regulations and improve the ease of doing business, particularly in agriculture, to attract more investors and support local enterprise.
The commissioner therefore urged residents to actively engage with the Ministry of Agriculture and register for various initiatives, while reaffirming the ministry’s commitment to innovation, improved input distribution, and expanded investments across the agricultural value chain.
