The Kaduna State Government has shut down 20 illegal Colleges of Health Sciences and private hospitals operating without accreditation across the state.
The Commissioner for Health, Umma Kaltum-Ahmed, disclosed that the affected facilities were located in Chikun, Igabi, Kaduna North and Kaduna South local government areas.
She said the closures followed the discovery that the institutions were operating in violation of established regulatory and professional standards.
According to the commissioner, the enforcement action is aimed at safeguarding public health by ensuring that healthcare workers are properly trained and qualified.
Kaltum-Ahmed warned that unapproved health institutions pose serious risks, as they may produce unskilled personnel capable of endangering lives.
She urged prospective students and members of the public to verify the accreditation status of health institutions before seeking admission or medical services.
The commissioner added that the exercise has the full support of Governor Uba Sani and forms part of the state government’s broader efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and regulation.
