
Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, and the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, have been honoured for their contributions to sports development in the state.
The awards were presented by the organisers of a community football tournament in Isin Local Government Area, led by Oyelowo Omotayo Olasunkanmi, in recognition of their support for grassroots sports.
Receiving the award on behalf of the state government, Coach Mogaji reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to reviving and strengthening sports across Kwara State.
He described sports as a powerful unifying force that brings people together beyond political, religious and ethnic differences, and urged stakeholders in the education sector to prioritise sports development as a tool for curbing social vices among youths.
Mogaji commended the tournament organiser for his commitment to grassroots football and advised him to formally register his club with the Kwara State Sports Commission to enable access to government support.
Earlier, the organiser, Hon. Olasunkanmi Omotayo Oyelowo, highlighted Governor Abdulrazaq’s role in sustaining sports in the state and described Coach Mogaji as instrumental to the successful hosting of several football competitions in Isin Local Government in recent years.
Also speaking, former Isin Local Government Council Chairman, Engineer Tunde Fadipe, said the visit was to appreciate the Sports Commission chairman for his consistent support for sports activities in the area.
He noted that the people of Isin value leaders who work for community development and wished Mogaji success in his leadership of the commission.
In his remarks, former Director of Sports in the state and Chairman of the Isin Local Football Council, Dr Isaac Olaitan Oloruntoba, said sports initiatives in Isin have helped promote community engagement and reduce youth-related social vices.
Other individuals honoured at the event include Coach Seyi Oyinlola, Dr Isaac Olaitan Oloruntoba, Mrs Yemisi Monisola Makanjuola, Alhaji Owolabi Wopa, Hon. Olumide Awolola Ayokunle, Kayode Bankole and the current Director of Sports, Mallam Ibrahim Oladele Bako.
