Unilorin, Immigration Service Strengthen Partnership

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has praised the transformation of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) under the leadership of Comptroller-General Kemi Nanna Nandap, an alumna of the University.

Prof. Egbewole made the remarks on Thursday, January 29, 2026, while receiving the new Comptroller of the NIS Kwara State Command, Mr. Hussaini Ibrahim, at his office. He described the NIS as a key institution in Nigeria’s security and administrative framework.

Commending the professionalism and dedication of the Service, the Vice Chancellor highlighted the achievements of University of Ilorin alumni within the NIS, noting that their progress reflects the quality training and core values instilled by the University.

He also emphasized the longstanding cordial relationship between the University and national institutions, noting that the NIS has consistently demonstrated professionalism and responsibility in its operations.

Prof. Egbewole expressed optimism that the partnership between the University and the NIS would continue to grow, enhancing collaboration, institutional capacity, and excellence in service delivery.

Speaking during the visit, Comptroller Hussaini Ibrahim said his objective was to express appreciation to the University and strengthen a mutually beneficial relationship.

He described the University of Ilorin as a key partner in human capacity development, noting that many officers in the Kwara State Command are either alumni or current students of the institution.

The Comptroller said this academic connection has significantly contributed to the professionalism and discipline of officers serving in the command.

Mr. Ibrahim expressed confidence that cooperation between the University and the NIS would continue to deepen, supporting institutional development, capacity building, and effective service delivery across the state.

The visit reinforces the ongoing collaboration between the University of Ilorin and the Nigeria Immigration Service, highlighting the importance of academic partnerships in national security and public administration.
