Unilorin VC’s Wife, Mrs Egbewole, Retires At 65

Mrs Muibat A. Egbewole, wife of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has retired from the service of the University after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 65.

Mrs Egbewole, who rose to the rank of Deputy Registrar, formally retired on Friday, January 30, 2026.

To mark the occasion, a special prayer session was held at the Vice Chancellor’s official residence, with prominent Muslim clerics leading the prayers.

Dignitaries at the event included the Vice Chancellor; the Director of the Joint Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB) Foundation School, Prof. Ibrahim Kayode Adam; the Director of the Centre for Research Development and In-House Training (CREDIT), Prof. Abdulkareem Oloyede; the wife of a former Vice Chancellor, Dr Raheemat Oloyede; and the proprietor of IQRA Group of Schools, Ilorin, Mr Aliu Alabi Badmus.

Meanwhile, the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), University of Ilorin branch, paid tribute to Mrs Egbewole, describing her career as illustrious and impactful.

In a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Mrs Damilola Afelumo, the association said Mrs Egbewole had been “a pillar of strength and inspiration” to many within and outside the University.

The association praised her dedication and professionalism, noting that her poise and warmth left a lasting impression on the University community.

SSANU congratulated her on what it described as a “double celebration” of her 65th birthday and retirement, and wished her a fulfilling and joyful life after service.

Before her retirement, Mrs Egbewole served as Deputy Registrar in charge of the University of Ilorin JUPEB Foundation School.
