The apex socio-cultural organisation of Igbomina people in Kwara State, Omo Ibile Igbomina, has commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for ordering the reopening of primary and post-primary schools in the Kwara South Senatorial District.
In a statement jointly signed by its President, Sir Bisi Fakayode, and National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Bisi Adedayo, the group welcomed the resumption of academic activities after nine weeks of closure.
The schools had been shut since November 19, 2025, following heightened security concerns and reports of criminal infiltration in parts of the state.
According to the group, the initial closure was a precautionary measure taken by the government to safeguard the lives of pupils, students, and teachers amid the prevailing security challenges.
Omo Ibile Igbomina described the decision to reopen the schools as timely and reassuring, noting that it reflects the government’s commitment to both security and education in the affected communities.
