The Kwara State Government has confirmed a deadly attack on communities in Kaiama Local Government Area and strongly condemned the killings.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq said he was deeply saddened by the loss of lives, describing the attack as a cowardly assault on innocent civilians.
“The incident was a desperate move by terrorist elements attempting to distract security agencies, especially as counterterrorism operations are ongoing in different parts of the state,” the governor said.

He noted that security forces have recorded notable successes in dismantling terrorist and kidnapping networks across Kwara State in recent months.
Governor AbdulRazaq expressed sympathy with the people of Woro and Nuku communities, particularly families who lost loved ones in the attack, and reassured residents of the government’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
Several houses were reportedly set ablaze during the invasion, leaving many families displaced and in mourning.
Security sources said Nigerian Army troops, working alongside forest guards, have been deployed to the affected communities to restore calm and prevent further attacks.
The attackers were said to have crossed into Kaiama from Borgu in neighbouring Niger State, after allegedly moving through villages where they preached against the Nigerian Constitution.
