FG Resumes Abandoned Road Projects In Jigawa

The Federal Government has approved the resumption of three long-abandoned road projects in Jigawa State, following years of neglect that reportedly led to frequent accidents, loss of lives, and destruction of property.

The affected roads are the Gaya–Shiwarin, Gaya–Kafin Hausa, and Kwanar Dumawa–Babura routes, which residents say have remained in poor condition despite repeated appeals for intervention.

The development was disclosed on Sunday by the State Coordinator of the Tinubu Renewed Hope Agenda, Alhaji Musa Shuaibu Guri, during a visit to the Emir of Gumel, Dr. Ahmad Muhammad Sani, where he presented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s seasonal greeting card.

Guri, a former chairman of Guri Local Government Area, said President Tinubu expressed displeasure over the prolonged abandonment of the projects and the resulting hardships faced by road users.

According to him, the President has ordered the immediate revocation of the original contracts, which have now been reassigned to new contractors to ensure prompt completion.

Guri also called on traditional rulers to continue offering prayers for peace, unity, and stability in the country, noting that the president’s greeting card was a recognition of their role in maintaining peace at the grassroots.

He added that the seasonal greetings would be extended to the five emirate councils in the state, including Hadejia, Kazaure, Ringim, and Dutse.

In his response, the Emir of Gumel commended President Tinubu for his efforts in strengthening agriculture, education, healthcare, and national security, and pledged the emirate’s continued support for the Federal Government’s development agenda.
