
The Kano State Fire Service has rescued a 23-year-old woman who fell into a well in Gurungawa, Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, prompting an emergency response from the agency.
In a statement issued by the Fire Service’s Public Relations Officer, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the Emergency Response Unit received a distress call at about 12:25 a.m. from a resident, Lawan Aminu.
A rescue team was immediately dispatched from the service’s headquarters to the scene.
“On arrival, our team discovered a 23-year-old woman who had fallen into a well,” the statement said.
The victim, identified as Ladidi Muhammad Sani, was rescued alive and subsequently handed over to her father, Abdullahi Sani.
The Fire Service said investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the incident.
It also advised residents to take necessary safety precautions around open wells and other hazardous areas to prevent similar occurrences.
