Kano Pillars have received a cash reward of N1.4 million following their 1-0 victory over Remo Stars in a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday 25 fixture.
The Sai Masu Gida secured the win at the Sani Abacha Stadium last Sunday, with Luis Dadong scoring the decisive goal to earn maximum points.
The cash prize was presented to the players by the Chairman of the Kano State House Committee on Sports, Kabiru Dahiru Sule, who said the gesture was aimed at motivating the team to regain its competitive edge.
“We want Kano Pillars to return to where it belongs. We have lived too long on past glory, and now is the time to rebuild and rebrand the club to a higher level,” Sule said.
The victory provided a boost for Mohammed Babaganaru’s side, who are currently battling in the lower half of the table. Kano Pillars sit 17th with 28 points, just one point above Kwara United, who are 18th with 27 points.
Pillars will face Kwara United in Ilorin this weekend in what is expected to be a crucial encounter for both sides as they seek to improve their standings.
