Boniface Unlikely To Play Again This Season

Nigeria international Victor Boniface is not expected to feature again this season for Werder Bremen as he continues rehabilitation from a knee injury.

Boniface sustained the injury during training in December and underwent surgery earlier this year. He is currently completing his rehabilitation programme in Leverkusen.

Werder Bremen’s head of professional football, Peter Niemeyer, said the club is encouraged by the striker’s progress but cannot provide a timeline for his return.

“He’s completing his rehab in Leverkusen, and we’re happy about every bit of progress. But it’s still impossible to predict how quickly he’ll be fully fit again,” Niemeyer told DeichStube.

“Due to the rehabilitation process, we don’t expect Victor to play for Werder again this season,” he added.

Boniface joined Werder Bremen on a season-long loan from Bayer Leverkusen last summer.

The 25-year-old made 11 league appearances for the Green and Whites, registering two assists before his injury setback.
