Chukwuma Soludo on Sunday attended an interdenominational thanksgiving service marking the completion of his first term in office, days before his inauguration for a second term in Anambra State.
Soludo is scheduled to be sworn in on Tuesday after securing re-election in the November 8 governorship poll. The thanksgiving service drew clergy from various Christian denominations across the country, as well as political leaders and supporters.
Among those present was former governor Chris Ngige, who joined religious leaders and other dignitaries at the event.
Addressing the congregation, Soludo expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the state, saying his long-standing prayer had been for God to grant him the life and strength to contribute to Anambra’s development.
“I have always prayed to God who blessed me with life and good health to use me to serve and uplift my state,” he said, thanking supporters and advisers who stood by his administration during his first term.
The governor pledged to intensify development efforts in his second term and urged residents to support his vision for a more prosperous state. “In terms of development, you have not seen anything yet,” he said, inviting citizens to work with his government to build “a new Anambra.”
He also stressed the need for a society driven by hard work and enterprise rather than crime, ritual activities, cultism, or drug trafficking.
Earlier in his sermon, Alexander Ibezim highlighted the qualities of effective leadership, urging leaders to remain compassionate and attentive to the needs of the people.
Ibezim noted that leadership often comes with significant challenges, particularly in a complex state like Anambra, and called for continued prayers and support for those in positions of authority.
