
The Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH) has commenced the accreditation process for the medical training programme of the College of Health Sciences at Kwara State University. A team from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) is conducting an official assessment of the facility.
Welcoming the team, KWASUTH’s Chief Medical Director, Bola Ahmed AbdulKadir, expressed confidence in the hospital’s readiness for accreditation, highlighting the institution’s infrastructure, personnel, and systems designed to meet national training standards.
“Our hospital is fully prepared to provide high-quality training for medical students while maintaining excellence in healthcare delivery,” he said.

Prof. Moyosore Ajao, Provost of the College of Health Sciences, commended the collaboration between the university and KWASUTH, emphasizing that it has strengthened the foundation for quality medical education. He also praised the Chief Medical Director for his role in facilitating the accreditation process.
Dr. Nnaemeka Nwakanma, Team Lead and Deputy Registrar of MDCN, stated that the visit aims to assess KWASUTH as a training centre for medical students. He acknowledged the efforts of the Kwara State Government in improving healthcare service delivery and assured support for sustaining high standards in medical training.
“The Council is ready to partner with the state to ensure excellence in both healthcare services and medical education,” Dr. Nwakanma said.
The accreditation exercise is expected to enhance KWASUTH’s capacity to serve as a centre of excellence in medical education and healthcare within the state.
The MDCN team comprises Professors Ligha Alaysius, Augustine Odili, Nanyak Galam, Fidelis Olumese, Kenneth Ngwogu, Olayemi, Mike Ogirima, Oladele Olatunya, Sina Oladokun, Kenechi Uwakwe, as well as Mr. David Omoregie and Mr. Bello Misbau.
The exercise reflects ongoing efforts to ensure that medical training in Kwara State meets national and international standards, benefiting students and the wider healthcare system.
