Eze Dumps APC, Joins ADC Over Governance Concerns

Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has announced his resignation from the ruling party, citing concerns over the country’s economic situation and security challenges.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Eze said his decision followed consultations with family members and political associates. He accused the administration of Bola Tinubu of failing to address key national issues, including economic hardship and insecurity across parts of the country.

Eze said he had previously supported the APC with his time and resources but now believed the party had lost direction and was no longer living up to its promises to Nigerians.

He also confirmed that he has joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where he intends to work with other members to promote what he described as the party’s democratic ideals and national development agenda.

Explaining his decision, Eze cited concerns over the value of the naira, rising insecurity, and challenges facing the education sector, stating that the party had not delivered on several commitments made to Nigerians before coming to power.

He further criticised what he described as the declining quality of governance and warned about what he alleged was a drift toward a one-party political system in the country.

Eze also expressed regret over his earlier role in encouraging Nigerians to support the APC, apologising to citizens for what he called the party’s failure to meet expectations.

He urged Nigerians dissatisfied with the current situation to work toward strengthening democratic institutions through lawful political engagement.

The APC has yet to respond publicly to his comments at the time of filing this report.
