JUST IN: Kano Deputy Governor Aminu Gwarzo Resigns Office

Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has resigned from office, according to a statement issued by the Kwankwasiyya Movement.

The movement said the resignation, announced on Friday, was taken in the interest of stability and effective governance in the state, following recent developments affecting the deputy governor’s ability to fully discharge the responsibilities of his office.

It clarified that the decision does not amount to an admission of allegations previously raised against Gwarzo by the Kano State House of Assembly, stressing that he maintains his innocence.

According to the statement, the move was intended to reduce political tension and allow the office of the deputy governor to function optimally in the public interest.

The movement also said Gwarzo plans to devote more time to strengthening its structures and preparing for political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Supporters were urged to remain calm and law-abiding while continuing to support democratic governance in the state.

Further details regarding the resignation are expected to be communicated by relevant authorities.
