NSCDC Deploys 2,280 Personnel for Safe Easter in Kwara

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 2,280 personnel across all 16 local government areas of Kwara State to ensure security during the Easter festivities, the commandant announced on Thursday.

Bala Bawa Bodinga said the deployment aims to prevent disruptions of law and order and deter mischief-makers from causing public disturbances during the holiday period.

In a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, Ayoola Michael Shola in Ilorin, the commandant emphasized that personnel would be strategically positioned at churches, recreational centers, motor parks, shopping complexes, and other high-risk locations.

“Surveillance and patrol operations have been intensified in both urban and rural communities, with tactical units and rapid response squads on standby to respond to any emerging threats,” Bodinga said.

He instructed all officers to take decisive action against individuals intending to commit crimes, particularly those targeting government infrastructure or public assets.

The commandant warned that anyone attempting to disrupt public order during Easter would be promptly apprehended and prosecuted under the law.

Bodinga assured residents that the Corps’ presence would be both visible and proactive, aimed at deterring criminal activity and ensuring a peaceful celebration.

He extended Easter greetings to Christians across the state and urged citizens to cooperate with security agencies while embracing the season’s values of love, sacrifice, and peaceful coexistence.

The NSCDC’s measures reflect a broader effort to maintain public safety and protect communities during major religious and cultural events in Nigeria.
