President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has appointed Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu as the new Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), replacing Ahmed Galadima Aminu, who resigned to contest the 2027 governorship election in Adamawa State.
In a separate move, President Tinubu renewed the appointment of Engineer Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz as Managing Director and CEO of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) for a second and final term. Both appointments take immediate effect.
Professor Aliyu, formerly Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, is a distinguished academic and experienced administrator with extensive expertise in research, education, and institutional leadership.
The President highlighted that Aliyu’s appointment aims to strengthen the PTDF’s role in human capital development, innovation, and strategic support for Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
“Professor Aliyu is expected to leverage his experience to reposition PTDF for greater impact in capacity building and national development priorities,” a statement from the Presidency noted.
Engineer Abdulaziz’s reappointment follows a thorough review of his leadership at TCN, where he has overseen improvements in grid stability, transmission capacity, and system modernization.
Under his tenure, TCN has enhanced its role in Nigeria’s electricity value chain and strengthened regional integration through active participation in the West African Power Pool (WAPP).
Abdulaziz brings over 30 years of experience in the power sector, providing continuity and expertise for ongoing infrastructure and operational projects.
President Tinubu urged both appointees to carry out their duties with diligence, integrity, and a strong commitment to public service, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The appointments reflect the administration’s focus on institutional strengthening and the development of strategic sectors vital to Nigeria’s economic growth.
