APC Mocks ADC Over Parallel Congress in Ebonyi

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State The  has criticised the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) over its parallel state congress that produced two separate leadership factions.

The congress resulted in the emergence of Silas Onu and Jennifer Adibe Nwafor as rival state chairpersons, reflecting ongoing internal divisions within the party.

Speaking at his faction’s congress held in Abakaliki, Onu said the ADC was preparing to challenge the ruling APC in the 2027 general elections and would field candidates for all elective positions, including the governorship.

“We shall field candidates for all positions, including the governorship. We will not only contend with them, we shall beat them,” he said.

Reacting, the APC state chairman, Stanley Okoro-Emegha, advised the opposition party to resolve its internal crisis before making electoral projections ahead of 2027.

Speaking through his Special Assistant on Media and Public Affairs, Chijioke Agwu, Okoro-Emegha said the existence of parallel leadership claims showed the party was not yet prepared for electoral competition.

“They should tell Ebonyi people, between Adibe Nwafor and Silas Onu who is their authentic state chairman,” he said.

He added that the APC remained united under its leadership and expressed confidence that residents of the state would continue to support Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and the ruling party in the next election cycle.
