Callum Hudson-Odoi has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on a leg injury sustained during Nottingham Forest’s Europa League quarter-final second-leg victory over FC Porto last week.
The 25-year-old winger missed Forest’s 4–1 Premier League win over Burnley on Sunday before the club confirmed on Tuesday that he had undergone a successful operation.
In a statement, Forest said the procedure went well but added that the former Chelsea FC forward is not expected to return until pre-season preparations begin.
Hudson-Odoi later reacted to the setback on social media, expressing disappointment at the timing of the injury but optimism about his recovery. “Surgery was successful, but definitely not the way I wanted to end the season,” he said, adding that he hopes to return “stronger and better than before.”
The injury comes at a critical stage of the campaign for manager Vítor Pereira’s side, who are balancing their domestic survival push with a strong run in European competition.
Forest are currently five points clear of the relegation zone with key league fixtures still to play against Sunderland AFC, Chelsea FC, Newcastle United, Manchester United, and AFC Bournemouth.
In Europe, the club is preparing for a UEFA Europa League semi-final against Aston Villa, with the first leg scheduled for April 30.
Hudson-Odoi’s absence is expected to be a significant blow to Forest’s attacking options as they enter a decisive phase of both their domestic and continental campaigns.
