Oyedepo Tells Members to Share His Phone Number With Kidnappers, Cites ‘Spiritual Authority’ for Rescue

The Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, David Oyedepo, has urged members of his church to give abductors his phone number if they are kidnapped, saying he has the spiritual authority to secure their release.

Oyedepo made the remark during a church service at the Canaanland headquarters of the church in Ota. A video clip of the sermon circulated widely on social media on Thursday.

“If anybody picks you, give them my number, give them my number,” the cleric told the congregation during the service.

He supported the instruction with accounts of what he described as divine intervention in two previous kidnapping incidents involving church members. In one case, he said a pastor attached to the church was abducted and he spoke directly to the kidnapper by phone.

According to him, he warned the abductor that failure to release the pastor within 24 hours would have fatal consequences. He said the situation changed immediately after the warning.

Oyedepo also recounted another incident involving a female church member who, he said, declared by faith that she would be released by 7 a.m. despite not receiving any direct call from him. He claimed the captors later released her after what he described as unusual developments during the incident.

The cleric told congregants that they possessed similar spiritual authority and should learn to exercise it in confronting threats.

“You have been raised far above the devil. If the church does not conquer these devils, God has left heaven,” he said.

The video clip, shared under the hashtag “SupersonicSunday” on church-affiliated social media platforms, was recorded during a recent service before gaining wider public attention online.
