Musa Muhammad Kamarawa, a former Senior Special Assistant to ex-Zamfara State governor Bello Matawalle, has alleged that missing Nigerian activist and lecturer Abubakar Idris was killed in his presence.
The allegation surfaced in a Hausa-language statement attributed to Kamarawa, which has been widely circulated on social media platforms.
Dadiyata, a lecturer and prominent government critic, was abducted by gunmen from his residence in Kaduna on August 1, 2019. His whereabouts remain unknown, with many linking his disappearance to his criticism of northern political leaders on social media.

Kamarawa also submitted a petition to the Inspector General of Police on Thursday, accusing two senior police officers of threats, extortion, illegal searches, and coercion during investigations involving him.
In the petition, he alleged that the officers pressured him to conceal details of his relationship with Matawalle, now Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, during interrogation sessions.
Kamarawa further claimed that the officers threatened to kill him “as they killed Dadiyata and Saminu S/Fada Gusau,” alleging that the incidents occurred in his presence at Operations Yaki in Kaduna.
He also alleged that investigators repeatedly questioned him about his relationship with former Sokoto State governor Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, whom he described as their “main target.”
The claims have triggered reactions online, with political commentator Imran Wakili calling for an independent investigation into Dadiyata’s disappearance and alleged killing.
Security analyst and journalist Bakatsine also urged authorities to conduct a transparent probe, describing the allegation as a serious accusation involving enforced disappearance and possible extrajudicial killing.
Neither the police authorities nor Matawalle had publicly responded to the allegations as of Friday.
