A delegation from the Air Force War College Nigeria has visited the Headquarters Theatre Command of Operation HADIN KAI in Maiduguri, Borno State, as part of an operational study tour.
The delegation, led by Gambo Mbaka, was received at the Maimalari Cantonment headquarters of the Joint Task Force North East.
Mbaka said the visit formed part of the academic programme for Course 12 of the college, inaugurated in January 2026, to expose participants to the realities of contemporary military operations and campaign planning.
He noted that the institution is mandated to train officers in the effective deployment of air power and to develop manpower for operational air missions.
According to him, the study tour was aimed at deepening participants’ understanding of joint military operations, intelligence-driven warfare and the integration of air, land and special operations in tackling evolving security threats.
Mbaka also highlighted the role of the Nigerian Air Force in Operation HADIN KAI through intelligence gathering, surveillance missions, offensive air strikes, troop mobility and logistics support.

In his remarks, the Theatre Commander of Operation HADIN KAI, Abdulsalam Abubakar, said troops had recorded significant progress during ongoing dry season operations conducted alongside the Multinational Joint Task Force.
He disclosed that the theatre command had expanded operational locations to strengthen coverage across the North-East and improve ongoing counter-insurgency operations.
Abubakar said the operation had recently neutralised hostile drones without casualties among troops and revealed that a Joint Fire Support Coordinating Centre had been established to manage air operations and improve coordination during combat missions.
The theatre commander further stated that troops neutralised about 1,000 insurgents, including 67 commanders, in the first quarter of 2026, adding that insurgent capabilities had been significantly weakened while military losses remained minimal.
