Former Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello has won the All Progressives Congress primary election for the Kogi Central Senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The primary election, held on Monday, featured two other aspirants APC Diaspora Secretary, Momoh Obaro, and Ibrahim Yakubu Adoke.
Bello’s victory comes after days of political tension and speculation within party circles over his eligibility for the contest.
Rumours had emerged suggesting that the former governor’s screening process may have faced complications, raising uncertainty about his participation in the primary.
Despite the concerns, Bello secured the party’s ticket and is now positioned to contest the senatorial seat in the 2027 elections under the APC platform.
