Suswam Defeats Udende in Benue APC Primary

Former Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Benue North-East Senatorial District after defeating incumbent Senator Emmanuel Udende in the party’s primary election.

The results of the senatorial primaries were announced on Tuesday at the APC secretariat in Makurdi by the Chairman of the National Assembly Primary Election Committee in Benue State, Sabiu Mahuta.

According to the committee, Suswam secured 131,083 votes, while Udende polled 1,364 votes in the Benue North-East contest.

In the Benue South Senatorial District, former House of Representatives member Francis Otta Agbo won the party’s ticket with 58,760 votes.

Agbo defeated several contenders, including Daniel Onjeh, who scored 5,570 votes; Patrick Idoko with 2,732 votes; Gabriel Oloche with 5,246 votes; Nelson Alapa with 4,312 votes; and Joseph Ojobo with 6,782 votes.

For the Benue North-West Senatorial District, Aber Terseer emerged victorious with 93,412 votes.

Terseer defeated incumbent Senator Titus Zam, who polled 2,763 votes, along with other aspirants in the race.

The APC said the primaries were conducted across the three senatorial districts as part of the party’s preparations for the forthcoming general elections.
