Nigerian businessman and socialite Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has explained why he withdrew his support for former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and aligned himself with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Cubana Chief Priest was among several celebrities who openly backed Obi during the 2023 presidential election campaign. However, ahead of the 2027 elections, he has publicly declared support for Tinubu.
The socialite is currently serving as a coordinator for the City Boys Movement, a political mobilisation group launched by Seyi Tinubu to strengthen grassroots support ahead of the next general election.
Speaking during a conversation with Nigerian streamer Peller, Cubana Chief Priest said he changed political allegiance because he did not want to be associated with another electoral defeat.
“I left Obi because I don’t want to lose again. Peter will still not win because he is not ready,” he said.
His comments have since generated reactions online, particularly among supporters of both political figures, as discussions around the 2027 presidential race continue to gain attention.
