Desmond Elliot, the lawmaker representing Surulere I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, has announced his withdrawal from the ongoing race for re-election.
Elliot made the announcement in a video circulated on social media on Wednesday, citing alleged intimidation and restrictions affecting his supporters during the process.
“My name is Desmond Elliot. In all zones, they have been intimidating and stopping us,” he said in the video.
He added that some of his supporters were prevented from participating despite being members of his ward.
“This is my ward. If you go outside, those are my people outside, and they have not been allowed, so I am officially announcing my withdrawal from this race. Good luck, thank you,” he stated.
Elliot, who is seeking another term in the Lagos State House of Assembly, is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
