The Kwara State Government has approved the payment of a 30 per cent Peculiar Allowance for workers in agencies, parastatals, and media organisations who were previously excluded from the benefit granted to core civil servants.
The Acting Head of Service, Dr. Olufunke Mercy Shittu, announced the development in a statement issued by the Press Secretary in the Office of the Head of Service, Mr. Okanlawon Solomon.
According to the statement, the decision forms part of the government’s efforts to promote workers’ welfare, fairness, and inclusiveness across the public service.
Dr. Shittu said implementation of the allowance will commence on June 1, 2026, describing the move as another demonstration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s commitment to improving staff welfare and morale.
She commended the governor for sustaining policies aimed at strengthening productivity and ensuring equitable treatment of workers in the state civil service.
The Acting Head of Service also urged employees in the affected establishments to remain dedicated to their duties and continue supporting government programmes and policies.
The statement further disclosed that May salaries had been paid ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration to enable workers celebrate the festive season with their families.
Dr. Shittu also congratulated workers and Muslim faithful in the state on the Sallah celebration, praying for peace, progress, and prosperity in Kwara State.
