Former Newcastle United midfielder Chris Waddle has advised Manchester United manager Michael Carrick to offload several players as he prepares for his first transfer window in charge.
Carrick, recently appointed on a two-year contract as Manchester United’s permanent manager, is expected to reshape the squad ahead of the new season.
Waddle, speaking to BoyleSports, said the club must take decisive action in the market to create space for new signings and improve overall performance.
He specifically named Casemiro, Joshua Zirkzee, and Rasmus Hojlund as players he believes should leave Old Trafford.
“Looking at Manchester United, Casemiro is going, they have got to get rid of Joshua Zirkzee, Rasmus Hojlund has to be moved on,” Waddle said.
He added that several other squad members should also be considered for departure as part of a broader rebuild.
“There are another five or six players they need to get off the wage bill to allow Carrick to bring in players that he thinks will do the job,” he said.
Waddle argued that reducing the wage bill is necessary to give the manager flexibility in the transfer market and improve competitiveness.
Manchester United are expected to be active in the upcoming transfer window as Carrick looks to implement his long-term plans for the squad.
