The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Magaji Ngeri Ward, Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State, has suspended governorship aspirant Ladi Hassan over alleged anti-party activities and gross misconduct.
The suspension was announced in a letter dated June 2 and signed by the ward chairman, Aliyu Kolawole, the ward secretary, and the chairman of the ward disciplinary committee, Taofeek Jimba.
According to the ward executive committee, Hassan was issued a query on May 30 over allegations of conduct considered contrary to the party’s constitution and code of conduct.
The committee stated that he was directed to appear before a seven-member disciplinary panel within 48 hours but allegedly failed to honour the invitation.
“As stated in the said letter, you were directed to appear before a seven-man committee set up by the Ward Executive Committee within 48 hours of receipt. Your failure to comply constitutes an admission of guilt of anti-party activities, acts of indiscipline, and gross misconduct,” the letter stated.

Citing relevant provisions of the PDP constitution, the ward executive imposed a one-month suspension on Hassan from all party activities at ward, local government, state, and national levels.
The development comes amid ongoing internal divisions within the Kwara PDP over the party’s governorship ticket.
Hassan was recently announced as governorship candidate by the Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the party, days after another faction aligned with former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike adopted Suleiman Kawu as candidate through a consensus arrangement reportedly backed by former Senate President Bukola Saraki.
Political observers say the latest development reflects the lingering factional crisis within the party ahead of future elections.
Reacting to the suspension, Hassan dismissed the action as insignificant, saying, “How can you suspend someone that does not belong to your group?”
He added that he would address the media at the appropriate time regarding the situation within the party.
