Danladi-Salihu Congratulates New Ilorin Chief Imam

The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly and APC governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, has congratulated Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani on his appointment as the 13th Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate.

In a statement, Danladi-Salihu also congratulated the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, and the people of the Ilorin Emirate on the successful emergence of a new spiritual leader for the Muslim community.

Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki succeeds the late Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Imam Salihu, the 12th Chief Imam of Ilorin, who recently passed away.

The new Chief Imam comes from a distinguished lineage of Islamic scholars. He is the grandson of the 8th Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Ibrahim Dasuki Imam Fulani Agaka, and the son of the 10th Chief Imam, Sheikh Maliki bn Dasuki Agaka.

Speaking on behalf of the Kwara State House of Assembly, the Speaker expressed confidence in the new Chief Imam’s ability to provide spiritual guidance and uphold the rich Islamic heritage of the Ilorin Emirate.

“On behalf of the Kwara State House of Assembly, I wish the new Chief Imam a long and spiritually rewarding tenure as he steps into the role of his forebears to lead the Emirate’s Muslim community,” Danladi-Salihu said.

Aged 42, Sheikh Dasuki is a postgraduate student at Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin. He is also the founder and proprietor of Darul Bisharah Arabic and Islamic Studies, located in Airport, Egbejila, Ilorin, and is widely known for presenting Islamic programmes on radio.

His appointment has been welcomed by religious leaders, traditional institutions and members of the Muslim community across Kwara State.
