Troops Rescue Widow of Late General Abubakar Rabe in Katsina Forest Raid

Security forces have rescued Amina Rabe, the widow of late General Abubakar Rabe, from bandits who abducted her alongside her husband in a recent attack.

The rescue was executed on Monday after sustained military offensives against criminal enclaves in Matazu Forest and neighboring communities in Katsina State.

Security sources said troops launched coordinated assaults on bandit camps from Sunday through the early hours of Monday, destroying several hideouts.

The operation was carried out jointly by personnel of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Department of State Services, and the Nigeria Police Force.

According to the sources, the intense security offensive forced the kidnappers to abandon their position, leading to the successful extraction of Mrs. Rabe from captivity.

The late General Abubakar Rabe and his wife were kidnapped in an attack that drew widespread condemnation and heightened calls for action against banditry in the North-West.

General Rabe was killed while in captivity. His wife’s rescue ends days of uncertainty for the family.

Security agencies have yet to disclose whether arrests were made or if ransom was paid. Operations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing bandits.
