The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has described Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s victory in the Ekiti State governorship election and the party’s strong showing in recent bye-elections as a vote of confidence in the APC and President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda said the election outcomes reflected public support for the party’s governance approach and ongoing reforms at both the federal and state levels.
According to him, the results demonstrate that Nigerians can distinguish between the short-term challenges associated with economic reforms and the long-term benefits of policies aimed at strengthening the economy, infrastructure and public institutions.
“The overwhelming victory recorded by our great party in Ekiti State and our remarkable success in the bye-elections across the country represent a powerful endorsement of the APC’s governance philosophy,” Yilwatda said.
He attributed Governor Oyebanji’s re-election to what he described as effective leadership, prudent resource management and visible development projects across the state.
“The people of Ekiti State have once again demonstrated that performance remains the most potent campaign message in democratic politics,” he stated.
Yilwatda noted that the APC also secured victories in five of the six bye-elections conducted across the country, describing the outcome as further evidence that performance-driven governance remains politically rewarding.
He said the Ekiti election had become a reference point for how development-focused leadership can earn public trust, citing achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, youth empowerment and social development.
The APC chairman also described Ekiti as a model of people-centred governance, pointing to investments in road construction, rural development, healthcare services, workers’ welfare and economic growth initiatives under the Oyebanji administration.
Yilwatda added that the election results should be viewed within the broader context of President Tinubu’s reform agenda, which he said is laying the foundation for a more resilient and competitive Nigerian economy.
