Suspect Planned to ‘Teach Her Lesson’ – Ogun Police

The Ogun State Police Command says the prime suspect in the killing of former OGTV broadcaster Kitan Oyesiku and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo, confessed that the attack was planned to “teach her a lesson” over alleged grievances from his time as her employee.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, disclosed this on Thursday during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.

According to the police, investigations began after a resident reported suspicious activities at Oyesiku’s residence. Detectives who visited the scene found signs of forced entry, while Adetayo’s body was discovered at the security post and Oyesiku’s remains were later found inside the house. Her missing Lexus RX 330 SUV was subsequently recovered.

Ojajuni said a note recovered from the vehicle became a crucial lead. Following forensic analysis, detectives arrested the principal suspect, 22-year-old Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, at a construction site in Ibara, Abeokuta. Two other suspects, Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27, and Sobu Obafunsho, 36, were later arrested for their alleged roles in the crime.

According to the police, Philip confessed during interrogation that he recruited the two other suspects and coordinated the attack because of grievances he held against Oyesiku while working as her security guard.

Police said the suspects allegedly overpowered Adetayo on June 20, 2026, used him to gain access to the residence, attacked Oyesiku, and later killed the security guard before fleeing with the victim’s vehicle, which was later recovered through intelligence-led operations.

Investigators also recovered several exhibits linked to the case, including a broken hammer, a cutlass, a wooden plank and a black pen from locations connected to the suspects.

Ojajuni stressed that although the suspects have made confessional statements and investigators have recovered substantial evidence, they remain entitled to due process under the law. He added that investigations are continuing to strengthen the case before prosecution and ensure that everyone connected to the killings is brought to justice.
