The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj exercise, announcing an initial deposit of N7.5 million for intending pilgrims.
The board also warned that registration will close in 87 days, in line with the timeline set by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and Saudi Arabian authorities.
Director-General of the board, Ahmed Labbo, disclosed this on Wednesday during a meeting with zonal officers from the state’s 27 local government areas at the board’s headquarters in Dutse.
Labbo said the early registration process was introduced to enable prospective pilgrims to secure their slots well ahead of the pilgrimage and avoid last-minute delays.
“We have commenced the initial deposit of seven and a half million naira for the 2027 Hajj exercise,” he said.
He explained that Saudi Arabia has fixed September as the global deadline for Hajj registration, leaving only 87 days for intending pilgrims to complete the process.
Labbo directed the board’s zonal officers to intensify public sensitisation across the state and ensure all allocated Hajj seats are filled before the deadline.
He noted that early registration and payment would improve planning for logistics, accommodation and feeding arrangements in Saudi Arabia, adding that the board was determined to avoid the late payments and documentation challenges experienced during the 2026 Hajj.
The director-general also commended Governor Umar Namadi for his continued support of the board, describing the administration’s backing as instrumental to the smooth conduct of Hajj operations in Jigawa State.
