Peter Obi Urges Nigerians to Register to Vote

Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has urged eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise, describing it as the foundation for building a better nation.

In a post on his verified X account on Thursday, Obi said meaningful change begins with voter registration, stressing that the power to shape Nigeria’s future starts long before election day.

The former Anambra State governor said he made an impromptu stop at Waru Wazobia in Abuja on Wednesday, where he encouraged residents, particularly young people and women, to register to vote.

“I urge every eligible Nigerian who has not yet registered to do so without delay. Those who already have their voter cards should encourage their family members, friends, neighbours and colleagues to register as well,” he wrote.

Obi described voter registration as both a civic duty and an investment in Nigeria’s future, adding that active citizen participation is essential to achieving lasting national progress.

“A new Nigeria will not happen through wishful thinking. It will be built by citizens who participate, who believe, and who act. Let us continue to choose hope over despair, participation over apathy, and nation-building over division,” he said.
