Kwara Corrections Officer Wins Leadership Award

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Kwara State Command, has congratulated its Protocol Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Corrections (DSC) Tijani Salihu, on receiving the Best Leadership Award at the 32nd Assistant Superintendent of Corrections (ASC) Basic Course.

The six-month training, held at the Correctional Service Training College (CSTC), Kirikiri, Lagos, ran from January 12 to July 3, 2026, and brought together officers from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to strengthen their leadership and professional skills.

During the course, DSC Salihu served as the Overall Orderly (OO) General, where he coordinated official programmes, ceremonial activities and administrative schedules. The Command said he carried out the responsibilities with professionalism, discipline and exceptional organisational ability, earning the respect of the college management, directing staff, instructors and fellow participants.

In recognition of his outstanding performance, Salihu received the Best Leadership Award during the Passing-Out Parade. The award was presented by the Assistant Controller-General of Corrections, Olatunbosun Dele Ajibogun, in the presence of the Commandant of the college, Controller of Corrections Adenaya Mobolaji Babatunde, and other senior officers.

Reacting to the honour, Salihu thanked the college management, instructors and fellow participants for their support throughout the programme, describing the award as motivation to continue serving the Nigerian Correctional Service with dedication, integrity and professionalism.

The Controller of Corrections, Kwara State Command, CC Tolorunshagba Femi Emmanuel, described the recognition as well deserved, commending Salihu for projecting the Command positively. He urged other officers to emulate his commitment to excellence and also acknowledged the Controller-General of Corrections, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, for prioritising professionalism and personnel development across the Service.
