Oyebanji Approves New Salary, Vehicles for Ekiti Headmasters-General

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has approved a consolidated salary structure and official vehicles for the state’s three headmasters-general in a move aimed at strengthening the administration of basic education.

The Executive Chairman of the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof. Femi Akinwumi, announced the approval in a statement issued on Friday in Ado-Ekiti.

The beneficiaries are Mrs. Monisola Oguntamore (Ekiti Central), Mr. Isaac Ogunleye (Ekiti South) and Mrs. Bola Omotoso (Ekiti North), who were appointed as headmasters-general in June 2025.

According to Akinwumi, the initiative is intended to improve administrative leadership, enhance school supervision and boost service delivery in public primary schools across the state. He said the official vehicles would improve mobility for school monitoring, while the new salary structure would boost morale and attract qualified professionals to leadership positions in the basic education sector.

He quoted Governor Oyebanji as saying the headmasters-general play a strategic role in promoting quality teaching, effective monitoring and improved learning outcomes in public schools.

Akinwumi added that the approval aligns with the administration’s broader education reforms, which include teacher recruitment, prompt payment of salaries and pensions, classroom renovation and construction, provision of learning materials, and continuous professional development for teachers.

He also noted that the state remains committed to its free and compulsory basic education policy while working with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and other development partners to improve infrastructure and educational standards.

The SUBEB chairman described the approval as a significant step toward strengthening basic education administration and urged the beneficiaries to justify the confidence placed in them through diligence, transparency and dedication to duty.
