AFTER OYO SCHOOL CHILDREN FREEDOM, KWARA PDP CARPETS GOV. ABDULRAZAQ OVER WORO CAPTIVES

The Kwara State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has congratulated the Government and people of Oyo State on the successful rescue of 49 abducted school children and teachers who regained their freedom after spending 51 harrowing days in captivity.

In a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Olusola, the party described the rescue as the product of sustained citizen engagement, consistent media pressure, and responsive leadership by the Oyo State Government.

The PDP said Governor Seyi Makinde demonstrated what responsible leadership looks like by treating public criticism and concern not as an affront, but as a call to intensify efforts to secure the victims’ release.

The party, however, carpeted Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State over what it described as his administration’s failure and silence regarding the 179 victims kidnapped in Woro, Kwara State, who have allegedly remained in captivity for 159 days.

“While Oyo State was able to secure the freedom of its children in 51 days through proactive governance and communication, Kwara’s victims have been abandoned for 159 days with no visible rescue effort or empathy from the government,” the statement said.

The PDP accused the AbdulRazaq-led administration of abandoning its constitutional duty of protecting lives and property, and of failing to engage stakeholders, the media, and security agencies with the urgency the Woro abduction demands.

The party called on the state government to immediately set up a transparent rescue and negotiation task force, provide regular updates to families, and demonstrate the political will needed to bring the Woro captives home.

“The lives of 179 Kwarans matter. The government must stop treating this tragedy with indifference and act now,” the PDP stated.
