Three Arraigned Over Abuja Man’s Alleged Murder

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arraigned three suspects, including two children of the late Adimike Godwin, before the FCT High Court over the alleged murder of the Abuja resident in Guzape.

The defendants—Adimike Anthony, Adimike Stephany and Comfort Ajibade were arraigned on a four-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy to commit culpable homicide, culpable homicide and offences under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.

The court adjourned the case until September 30, 2026, and ordered that the three defendants be remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre pending further proceedings.

In a statement issued on Monday, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, said officers responded to a distress call on May 15 after a relative reported being unable to reach the deceased.

According to her, detectives found Adimike Godwin unconscious in his room with multiple stab wounds. He was rushed to Karu General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel.

Adeh said the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, ordered a comprehensive investigation that initially led to the arrest of five suspects, including the deceased’s driver and gateman. However, only Anthony, Stephany and Ajibade were charged after investigations were concluded.

The police said all three defendants are facing charges of conspiracy to commit culpable homicide and culpable homicide. In addition, Anthony was separately charged with allegedly entering into a same-sex civil union, while Stephany and Ajibade were jointly charged under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.

The police spokesperson reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring justice while respecting the constitutional rights of all parties involved throughout the judicial process.
