Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested Adeniyi Adeyemi, the Director-General of the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), hours after a Federal High Court in Abuja issued a bench warrant for his arrest.
According to TVC News, Adeyemi was taken into custody shortly after Justice Mohammed Umar ordered security agencies to arrest him wherever he was found. A video shared by the station showed the suspect being questioned by police officers.
Adeyemi is expected to be arraigned on an eight-count charge marked FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025, bordering on alleged forgery, fraud and impersonation.
The court issued the warrant after Adeyemi and the other defendants failed to appear when the matter came up for hearing. Counsel to the police, Wisdom Madaki, urged the court to issue a bench warrant following the defendants’ absence.
Responding, Adeyemi’s lawyer, Genesis Francis, told the court that his client stayed away because he feared for his life and had written to President Bola Tinubu over his concerns.
Justice Umar subsequently ordered all security agencies to arrest Adeyemi and produce him before the court. The case was adjourned until September 30 for arraignment.
