The Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps has declared one of its personnel, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, wanted over allegations of illegally selling and supplying military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal elements.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations at the Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, Maj. Oluwatope Aluko, said preliminary investigations linked the soldier to the alleged activities after he absconded from his unit.

According to the statement, Amutu, who was serving at the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, deserted his duty post on June 3, 2026.

The Army said he has since been declared wanted by the appropriate military authorities, adding that efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend him for investigation and possible disciplinary action in line with military regulations.

The Corps reiterated its zero-tolerance policy toward misconduct, indiscipline and any action capable of undermining the operational effectiveness, integrity and reputation of the Nigerian Army or threatening national security.

It warned that any personnel found to have aided terrorists or criminal groups through the unauthorised sale, diversion or distribution of military uniforms, accoutrements or other controlled items would face the full weight of military and civil laws.

The Army appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could lead to Amutu’s arrest, urging anyone with useful intelligence to report to the nearest military formation or any security agency.

It also reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, professionalism and the protection of military assets, pledging to thoroughly investigate allegations of misconduct and ensure that anyone found culpable is held accountable.
