The family of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has dismissed as fake a letter circulating on social media and purportedly signed by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain.

In a statement issued on Thursday, El-Rufai’s son, Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, described the document, titled “Urgent Message” and dated July 14, 2026, as fraudulent, stressing that it did not originate from the former governor.

According to the statement, the letter, allegedly addressed to the National Chairman and National Secretary of the ADC, should be disregarded because neither its content nor handwriting belonged to El-Rufai.

“The spurious letter, purportedly dated July 14, 2026, and addressed to the National Chairman and National Secretary of the ADC, should be disregarded,” the statement said.

The family alleged that the document was an attempt by political opponents to create confusion and division, describing it as “politics by fakery.” It added that those responsible for circulating the letter should be condemned.

The purported letter, which has been widely shared online, questioned the nomination of Isah Ashiru as the ADC governorship candidate in Kaduna State. It claimed Ashiru failed to complete the party’s online membership registration before the April 30, 2026 deadline, allegedly making his nomination contentious.

The letter also urged the party’s national and state leadership to review the matter.

However, El-Rufai’s family maintained that the document was fabricated and advised the public to ignore its contents.
