
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has confirmed that an Enugu Air aircraft was involved in a runway excursion at Benin Airport in Edo State on Thursday, assuring that all passengers and crew members were unharmed.
Speaking exclusively to DAILY POST, the NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, said the aircraft skidded off the runway after landing but there were no casualties.
“They had a runway excursion. Yes, there was this skid off the runway after landing. Everybody is safe. There was no injury to any passenger. All passengers came out. Passengers and crew came out safe,” Achimugu said.
A Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, also confirmed that the incident was a runway excursion.
The cause of the incident has not yet been determined, and investigations are expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the aircraft’s departure from the runway.
Enugu Air, which is owned by the Enugu State Government, began commercial flight operations on July 7, 2025.
