…..Movement Targets 16 LGAs, 193 Wards With Focus on Youth, Women, Security
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kwara State on Monday unveiled the Kwara State Grassroots Movement (KSGM), describing it as a people-driven platform aimed at mobilizing communities for Engr. Suleiman Bolakale Kawu’s governorship ambition.
The unveiling ceremony attracted a large gathering of PDP leaders and stakeholders, including the State Party Chairman, members of the State Executive Committee, party leaders from Kwara South and Ilorin, local government and ward executives, as well as youth and women leaders.
Also in attendance was the PDP Governorship Aspirant, Engr. Suleiman Bolakale Kawu (SBK), alongside his Deputy Governorship Aspirant. Their presence, organizers said, reinforced the movement’s vision of inclusive leadership and grassroots development.
Speaking at the event, Convener of KSGM and Executive Director of Twinsfaja Group, Otunba Adebayo Awoniyi, said the movement was founded on the belief that “true transformation begins at the grassroots.”
According to him, KSGM will work to unite people across the 16 Local Government Areas and 193 wards, promote active citizen participation, empower youths and women, create economic opportunities, improve security, and ensure every voice is heard in shaping the future of the state.
“The atmosphere was filled with hope, unity, and renewed determination. This was more than the unveiling of a movement it was the beginning of a people-driven mission to reconnect with every community and listen to the aspirations of the people,” Awoniyi stated.
He appreciated Engr. SBK, PDP leadership, and all supporters who attended, noting that their presence “demonstrated that the journey towards a greater Kwara has truly begun.”
Otunba Awoniyi added that the unveiling was only the first step, as the movement will take its message of “hope, unity, responsible leadership, and development to every ward, every community, and every household across Kwara State.”
The Kwara State Grassroots Movement adopted the slogan: *“Rooted in the People. Driven by Purpose. United for a Greater Kwara.”
