The Osun State APC Governorship Campaign Council has alerted security agencies and the public to what it described as a plot to disrupt the visit of INEC Chairman, Prof. Ojo Amupitan, to the state on Wednesday.

In a statement by the Head of its Media and Publicity Committee, Oluremi Omowaiye, the Council said it received intelligence that members of the Accord Party plan to stage a protest during the INEC Chairman’s stakeholder engagement.

The APC alleged that the protest is aimed at calling for the removal of the State Resident Electoral Commissioner and creating confusion to undermine confidence in the electoral process ahead of the August 16, 2026 governorship election.

According to the statement, the demonstration is being sponsored by Yeyeluwa Dupe Adeleke, elder sister of Governor Ademola Adeleke. The Council further claimed the protest would involve women and political hoodlums mobilised from Ede and Osogbo.

“The Council received credible intelligence alleging that the protest is intended to create confusion during the stakeholder engagement and undermine public confidence in the electoral process,” the statement said.

It added that the objective is “to cast doubt on the credibility of the electoral process and create an atmosphere of uncertainty in the state.”

The APC urged security agencies to provide adequate security at all venues to be visited by the INEC Chairman and ensure stakeholders participate without intimidation.

The Council also called on all political parties and supporters to conduct themselves peacefully, saying “no individual or group should be allowed to undermine the integrity of the electoral process.”

It reaffirmed its commitment to a peaceful, credible, and transparent governorship election in Osun.
