Arsenal are preparing to submit an improved offer for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimarães as they intensify efforts to sign the Brazil international before the start of the new Premier League season.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported on X that Arsenal are expected to resume talks with Newcastle next week after an initial bid of about £70 million failed to produce an agreement.

According to Romano, personal terms have already been agreed with Guimarães, leaving negotiations between the two clubs as the final step in the proposed transfer.

“Arsenal set for new club-to-club contacts next week for Bruno Guimarães deal. Personal terms in place and a new approach with Newcastle anticipated to proceed, with the £70m proposal expected to be improved. Deal depends on Newcastle United’s decision on exit/price,” Romano posted.

Arsenal are hopeful that an increased offer will persuade Newcastle to consider selling their captain, who has been a key figure under manager Eddie Howe. However, the Magpies have not indicated they are willing to part with one of their most influential players.

The outcome of the transfer will depend on Newcastle’s stance and the valuation they place on the 28-year-old midfielder. Further discussions between both clubs are expected in the coming days as Arsenal continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign.
