Members of the Royal Family of the Yashikira Emirate in Kwara State who were abducted by kidnappers have regained their freedom and have returned home safely.

The Emirate announced the development in a statement posted on its official page on Thursday night.

According to EMIRATE RADIO 98.5 FM’s findings, the group said:

“ALHAMDULILAH ROBIL ALAMIN. Yashikira Emirate is pleased to announce the Freedom of the Royal Family Members from the Kidnappers den, they are all back safe,” the statement read.

The Emirate expressed gratitude to God and to the Baatombu Nation for their prayers and support during the period of captivity.

“HRH. Alh. Amb. Umar Sariki Usman and the entire Yashikiru Emirate has given thanks to Allah and All Baatombu Nation wide for their Prayers and Support during these hard times,” the statement added.

The post was accompanied by a photo of the Emir, HRH Alh. Amb. Umar Sariki Usman, dressed in royal blue attire.

Details of how the victims were released and whether ransom was paid were not disclosed as of press time.

Security agencies in the state are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

The Baatombu Nation and residents across Kwara have continued to send goodwill messages to the Emirate following the news.
