Fifteen APC leaders in Kwara State have adopted a new name, The Otoge Progressives, announced new resolutions, and endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as their candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

The decisions were taken at an Ilorin meeting Tuesday. The motion for the group’s new name was moved by Sen. Sadiq Umar Suleiman and seconded by *Sen. Saliu Mustapha.

The motion for the adoption of President Tinubu as the group’s 2027 presidential candidate was moved by Sen. Lola Ashiru and seconded by Hon. Mohammed Bio.

The Otoge Progressives accused Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of abandoning the 2019 Otó gé ideals through “exclusion, manipulation and one-man control” of the party.

“We reject attempts to treat the APC as personal property,” the group said. “Kwara deserves a credible, transparent and democratic process.”

In its resolutions, the group agreed to mobilize across all 16 LGAs, demand transparency in appointments and candidate selection, and restore internal democracy ahead of 2027.

Despite criticizing the state leadership, the group pledged loyalty to the Presidency and cited Tinubu’s reform agenda as reason for the endorsement.

The group warned APC national that “victory in 2027 is under threat” if concerns are ignored, but urged members to “remain steadfast.”

The Ilorin meeting marks the most coordinated challenge yet to Governor Abdulrazaq’s leadership of Kwara APC.
