The General Overseer of Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry, Chukwuemeka Cyril Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje, has said Nigeria should be divided if the country’s leadership has nothing to offer its citizens.

Speaking during a church service, the cleric criticised President Bola Tinubu over remarks that Nigerians had experienced hunger even before he was born. Odumeje argued that political leaders should be mindful of their public statements, especially at a time of economic hardship.

He said Nigerians would use the 2027 general elections to determine whether the country belongs to its citizens or to a privileged political class.

“In 2027, we shall decide if it’s you senators, governors and your families that own Nigeria or if it belongs to all of us. We are no longer boys; we are fathers,” he said.

Odumeje maintained that those entrusted with public office are elected to manage the nation’s resources for the benefit of all Nigerians, not for personal interests. He added that if the government could not improve citizens’ welfare, the country should be divided.

The cleric also accused politicians backing the President of prioritising personal and family interests over the future of ordinary Nigerians.

He further alleged that many elected officials focus on acquiring wealth while in office and leave the country after losing elections, insisting that Nigerians would ultimately decide the nation’s political direction through the ballot in 2027.
