Vicky Seymour Resumes as UK Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria

Vicky Seymour has resumed duty as the United Kingdom’s new Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, succeeding Gill Lever OBE, whose diplomatic posting ended in June 2026.

The UK Government announced Seymour’s appointment in a statement issued on Thursday.

Seymour has taken up her new role in Abuja, where she is expected to work with Nigerian authorities to strengthen the longstanding relationship between both countries.

According to the statement, her responsibilities will include advancing cooperation in areas such as economic growth, security, migration, development and international affairs.

She will also focus on strengthening people-to-people ties between the UK and Nigeria as part of efforts to deepen bilateral relations.

Seymour succeeds Lever, who served as Deputy High Commissioner until the end of her posting in June.

Her appointment comes as the UK and Nigeria continue to collaborate on issues including trade, security, development and migration
